- What do "temp" & "temping" mean?
- A. Employers recruit temporary workers or "temps" for a number of reasons. It may be to boost productivity, cover sickness, holidays or maternity leave. "Temping" means that you are working on a non-contractual basis and this could last for a single day or for months depending on the requirements. As well as offering flexibility, "temping" is a great way to experience new industries whilst learning new skills and also the chance to meet new people as well as enhancing your CV.
- What does "Temp to Perm" mean?

- A. Employers tend to use this service to assess the worker's ability before offering a permanent contract. This also benefits you as you can also try out the role before agreeing to their employment terms.
- What will I be paid?
- A. Minimum wage is currently £5.93 per hour. However, what rate of pay you will receive will depend on the type of job, hours of work and also the skills required.
- When will I be paid?
- A. Top Gear's week runs from Sunday through to Saturday. We pay on a weekly basis, one week in arrears. For instance, hours worked in Week A will be paid on the Friday of week B and so on.
- How do I report the hours worked?
- A. There are various ways that we record hours. All categories of driver will be given a timesheet book and it is their responsibility to make sure that the hours are recorded and signed at the end of the week. Many industrial clients prefer block timesheets containing all workers' names so they can control the recording of hours. Our advice is to purchase a diary and record all hours worked daily so that you can inform your consultant of any discrepancies.
- How will I be paid?
- A. You will be paid weekly by BACS payment into your preferred bank account. If you do not have a bank account, please speak to your consultant about obtaining a "One Pay" account.
- Am I entitled to holiday pay?
- A. Under the Working Time Regulations, temporary workers accrue a maximum of 28 days holiday per year. These accrue at a rate of 0.12 days per shift worked.
- How do I register?
- A. Contact your local branch of Top Gear to arrange an appointment for registration and an interview.
- What do I need to bring with me?
- A. You will need to bring identification and bank details. Acceptable forms of identification are passport, full birth certificate or ID card and proof of National Insurance. For non EEA nationals, passport with valid visa, Application Registration Card or ID card and / or other documentation issued by the Border and Immigration Agency to show your eligibility to work in the United Kingdom. You must also provide two years history.
