1999
Top Gear Recruitment was founded and run from a small office in Cheetham Hill, Manchester. The business was set up to specialise in supplying temporary labour into the warehouse and distribution industry. Turnover from a standing start was £1.4 million.

2000
We started to develop our own internal recruitment database that was specific to the blue collar sector of recruitment. This enabled us to control workers right the way through from advert to invoice

2001
Our 2nd branch opened in Warrington due to client demand along the M62 corridor. We also brought our payroll and accounts in-house to streamline the business, reduce costs and most importantly, become self sufficient.

2002
Saw the introduction of Managed Services into our business model meaning we could deliver dedicated on-site solutions anywhere in the UK.

2003
We expanded into Yorkshire by opening our 3rd branch in Wakefield again due to client demand. Turnover ramped up to £6 million.

2004
Due to the success of our Warrington operation, we opened our 4th branch in Liverpool to continue our expansion in the North West of England. Turnover continued to rise to £8 million

2005
The Managed Services division dominated our focus and time and continued to grow with the addition of a number of high profile business wins. There are now four on-site offices within our customers' premises taking the total numbers of offices to nine. Turnover again grew to £9.9million

2006
In terms of new office openings, 2006 was a year of consolidation. However we saw organic growth raising turnover to nearly £13.5 million.

2007
We opened our 5th branch in Wigan to give additional coverage and support to the existing branch network. This year also saw the introduction of our annual summer conference bringing the whole business together for us to share our vision for the future. Turnover increased to £19.5 million due to the new branch and an increased in managed services.

2008
As the recession started to take hold, Top Gear continued to post strong results and growth, increasing the turnover to £22 million. This was achieved through continued organic growth, new business wins and the retention of all our major blue chip customers.

2009
In what had been a difficult trading climate due to the recession, the business ended the period on a high in terms of expansion with the opening of its 13th location a new managed service contract in the north west. Turnover for the year maintained at the level of 2008 at £22 million.

2010
We have seen a very positive start to the year with the business already £1 million ahead of budget at the end of the first quarter. Following the end of the down turn, the business is set to expand again with the opening of two additional offices before the end of the year.
